Scotts Valley Transit Center LID Retrofit Project

Project Description: Completed in February 2017, improvements to the Scotts Valley Transit Center reduce stormwater volumes, improve water quality (through reduction of nutrients, pathogens and sediment) and recharge groundwater- the sole source of drinking water for the Scotts Valley area. The project is located in the Santa Margarita Groundwater Basin. This is a primary recharge area with limited infiltrating of rainwater due to the addition of impervious surfaces such as parking lots. As much as 50% of groundwater recharge areas have been lost to development. This project supports aquifer recovery by capturing stormwater for groundwater recharge. Additional features include pervious pavement and vegetated swales.
